Schöne traurige Lieder Vol. 23: George Michael

.
.
George Michael - The first time ever I saw your face
.
The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the endless sky, my love
And the first time ever I kissed your mouth
I felt the earth move in my hand
Like a trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command, my love
And the first time ever I lay with you
I felt your heart so close to mine
And I knew our joy it would fill the earth
And would last til the end of time, my love
It would last til the end of time
The first time ever I saw your face

Schöne traurige Lieder Vol. 22: Israel Kamakawiwo’Ole

Wind Beneath My Wings/He Hawai'i Au

It must have been cold there in my shadow
To never have sunlight on your face
You were content to let me shine
You always walked a step behind
I was the one with all the glory
You were the one with all the strain
A beautiful face without a name
A beautiful smile to ease my pain
Did you ever know that you're my hero
And everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle
You are the wind beneath my wings
You are the wind beneath my wings

I ke i'a po ke i'a au me o'e
Ke i'a po ua ho'i ma i au
He loa ka helena ma ke a la hele
E huli wahi ma ke i'a au
Mau popo au ua i ke ho'i
Ka home iloko ku'u pu'u wai
U'a ho'i mai i'au ke i ke nei au
Ma oli au au ana hou
Ke mau popo He Hawai'i au
Ke mau popo He Hawai'i au
You are the wind beneath my wings
Ooo ooo oo oo oo
You are the wind beneath my wings
Ke mau popo He Hawai'i au

Dreams really do come true ooh ooooh
Someday I'll wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me ee ee eeh
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney tops thats where you'll find me oh
Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly
And the dream that you dare to,why, oh why can't I? i iiii
Well I see trees of green and
Red roses too,
I'll watch them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Well I see skies of blue and I see clouds of white
And the brightness of day
I like the dark and I think to myself
What a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people passing by
I see friends shaking hands
Saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying, I...I love you
I hear babies cry and I watch them grow,
They'll learn much more
Than we'll know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world (w)oohoorld
Someday I'll wish upon a star,
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney top that's where you'll find me
Oh, Somewhere over the rainbow way up high
And the dream that you dare to, why, oh why can't I? I hiii ?
Ooooo oooooo oooooo

Schöne traurige Lieder Vol. 20: Turin Brakes

.

.
Turin Brakes - Average Man
.
If I was a farmer instead of a faker
If I was a realer and not just some raker
Raking through a memory that doesn't belong to me
Just someone I could have been if I'd only kept walking
Have another drink my son, enjoy another cigarette
'Cos it's time you realised you're just an average man

Alone on a motorway, you catch your breath
Cat's eyes lead everyway to lonesomeness
Since you learned to hide your fears and downsized your dreams
Still alive, still sincere inside your schemes
Have another drink my son, enjoy another cigarette
'Cos it's time you realised you're just an average man

And if this is darkness here
and if this is darkness coming

Have another drink my son, enjoy another cigarette
'Cos it's time you realised you're just an average man.

Schöne traurige Lieder Vol. 19: Gianna Nannini

.

.
Gianna Nannini - Notte senza cuore
.
Notti senza cuore notti senza me

Schöne traurige Lieder, Vol. 17 - Yiruma

.
Yiruma - Kiss the Rain (Instrumental)
.

Diamanda Galas - Gloomy Sunday
.
Sadly one Sunday, I waited and waited
With flowers in my arms, for the grief I'd created
I waited 'til dreams like my heart were all broken
The flowers were all dead and the words were unspoken
The grief that I knew was beyond all consoling
The beat of my heart was a bell that was tolling
Saddest of Sundays

Then came the Sunday when you came to find me
They brought me to church and I left you behind me
My eyes would not see what I wanted to love me
The earth and the flowers are forever above me
The bell tolled for me and the wind whispered 'never'
But you I have loved and I'll love you forever
Last of all Sundays.

Schöne traurige Lieder, Vol. 15 - Extreme

.

.
Extreme - More Than Words
.
Saying I love you is not the words I want to hear from you
Its not that I want you not to say, but if you only knew
How easy it would be to show me how you feel
More than words is all you have to do to make it real
Then you wouldn't have to say that you love me, cos I'd already know
What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel that your love for me is real
What would you say if I took those words away
Then you couldnt make things new just by saying I love you...
Now I've tried to talk to you and make you understand
All you have to do is close your eyes and just reach out your hands
and touch me, hold me close don't ever let me go
More than words is all I ever needed you to show
Then you wouldnt have to say that you love me, cos I'd already know
What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel that your love for me is real
What would you say if I took those words away
Then you couldnt make things new just by saying I love you

Schöne traurige Lieder, Vol. 14: Midge Ure

.
.
Midge Ure - Breathe
.
With every waking breath I breathe, I see what life has dealed to me
with every sadness I deny I feel a chance inside me die
Give me a taste of something new, to touch to hold to pull me through
send me a guiding light that shines across this darkened life of mine
Breathe some soul to me, breathe your gift of love to me
breathe life to live for me, breathe to make me breathe
For every man who build a home, a paper promise for his own
he fights against an open floor of lies and failures we all know
To those who have and who have not, how can you live with what you got
give me a touch of something sure, I could be happy ever more
Breathe some soul to me, breathe your gift of love to me
breathe life to live for me, to see to make me breathe
Breathe your honesty, breathe your innocence to me
breathe your word and set me free, breathe to make me breathe
This life prepares the strangest things, the dreams we dream of what life brings
the highest highs can turn around to sow love's seeds on slowly ground
Breathe ...

Schöne traurige Lieder, Vol. 13: Xavier Naidoo

.

.
Xavier Naidoo - Abschied nehmen
.
Was machen wir jetzt ohne unsern Held? Du bist weg, was nützt der ganze Mist. Mein kleiner Bruder wird für immer vermisst. Und ich wollte noch Abschied nehmen...

Schöne traurige Lieder, Vol. 12: U2

.
.
U2 - With Or Without You
.
See the stone set in your eyes, see the thorn twist in your side
I wait for you
Sleight of hand and twist of fate, on a bed of nails she makes me wait
And I wait... without you
With or without you, with or without you
Through the storm we reach the shore
You give it all but I want more
And I'm waiting for you
With or without you, with or without you
I can't live with or without you
And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give, and you give
And you give yourself away
My hands are tied, my body bruised,
she's got me with nothing to win, and nothing left to lose
And you give yourself away...
With or without you, with or without you
I can't live with or without you...

Schöne traurige Lieder, Vol. 11 - Tori Amos

.
.
Tori Amos - Silent All These Years
.
Excuse me but can I be you for a while
My dog won't bite if you sit real still
I got the anti-Christ in the kitchen yellin' at me again
Yeah I can hear that
Been saved sagain by the garbage truck
I got something to say you know but nothing comes
Yes I know what you think of me, you never shut-up
Yeah I can hear that
But what if I'm a mermaid, in these jeans of his with her name still on it
Hey but I don't care cause sometimes I said sometimes I hear my voice and it's been here
Silent all these years

So you found a girl who thinks really deep thoughts
What's so amazing about really deep thoughts
Boy you best pray that I bleed real soon, how's that thought for you
My scream got lost in a paper cup
You think there's a heaven where some screams have gone
I got 25 bucks and a cracker, do you think it's enough to get us there...
.
Years go by, will I still be waiting for somebody else to understand
Years go by, if I'm stripped of my beauty and the orange clouds raining in my head
Years go by, will I choke on my tears 'til finally there is nothing left
One more casualty, you know we're too easy easy easy

Well I love the way we communicate, your eyes focus on my funny lip shape
Let's hear what you think of me now, but baby don't look up, the sky is falling
Your mother shows up in a nasty dress, it's your turn now to stand where I stand
Everybody lookin' at you here, take hold of my hand, yeah I can hear them
But what if I'm a mermaid in these jeans of his with her name still on it
Hey but I don't care, cause sometimes I said sometimes I hear my voice, and it's been here
Silent all these years
I've been here, silent all these years...
Silent all these years.

Schöne traurige Lieder, Vol. 10 - REM

.

.
REM - Nightswimming
.
Nightswimming deserves a quiet night
The photograph on the dashboard, taken years ago,
Turned around backwards so the windshield shows
Every streetlight reveals the picture in reverse
Still, it's so much clearer, I forgot my shirt at the water's edge
And the moon is low tonight.
Nightswimming deserves a quiet night.
I'm not sure all these people understand
It's not like years ago, the fear of getting caught,
Of recklessness and water, they cannot see me naked
These things, they go away, replaced by everyday.
Nightswimming, remembering that night
September's coming soon, I'm pining for the moon
And what if there were two side by side in orbit around the fairest sun?
That bright, tight forever drum could not describe nightswimming.
You, I thought I knew you, you I cannot judge,
You, I thought you knew me, this one laughing quietly underneath my breath.
Nightswimming, the photograph reflects, every streetlight a reminder
Nightswimming deserves a quiet night, deserves a quiet night.

Schöne traurige Lieder, Vol. 9: Michael Buble

.

Michael Buble - Home
.
Another summer day has come and gone away in Paris or Rome... but I wanna go home. May be surrounded by a million people, I still feel all alone, just wanna go home. I miss you, you know. And I've been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you, each one a line or two. I'm fine baby, how are you? I would send them but I know that it's just not enough. My words are cold and flat, and you deserve more than that. Another aeroplane, another sunny place, I'm lucky I know, but I wanna go home, I got to go home, let me go home. I'm just too far from where you are I wanna come home. And I feel just like I'm living someone else's life. It's like I just stepped outside when everything was going right. And I know just why you could not come along with me. This was not your dream, but you always believed in me. Another winter day has come and gone away in either Paris or Rome, and I wanna go home. Let me go home. And I'm surrounded by a million people, I still feel alone. Let me go home. I miss you, you know. Let me go home. I've had my run, baby I'm done, I gotta go home. Let me go home, it'll all be alright, I'll be home tonight. I'm coming back home.

Schöne traurige Lieder, Vol. 8 - Tom Waits

.

.
Tom Waits - Time
.
The smart money's on Harlow, and the moon is in the street
And the shadow boys are breakin' all the laws
And you're east of East St. Louis, and the wind is making speeches
And the rain sounds like a round of applause
And Napoleon is weepin' in a carnival saloon, his invisible fiancee's in the mirror
And the band is goin' home, it's rainin' hammers, it's rainin' nails
And it's true, there's nothin' left for him down here
.
And it's time, time, time, and it's time, time, time
And it's time, time, time that you love, and it's time, time, time.
.
And they all pretend they're orphans, and their memory's like a train
You can see it gettin' smaller as it pulls away
And the things you can't remember tell the things you can't forget
That history puts a saint in every dream
Well, she said she'd stick around until the bandages came off
But these mama's boys just don't know when to quit
And Matilda asks the sailors, 'Are those dreams or are those prayers?'
So close your eyes, son, and this won't hurt a bit
.
Oh, it's time, time, time, and it's time, time, time
And it's time, time, time that you love, and it's time, time, time.
.
Well, things are pretty lousy for a calendar girl
The boys just dive right off the cars and splash into the street
And when they're on a roll, she pulls a razor from her boot
And a thousand pigeons fall around her feet
So put a candle in the window and a kiss upon his lips
As the dish outside the window fills with rain
Just like a stranger with the weeds in your heart
And pay the fiddler off till I come back again.
.
Oh, it's time, time, time, and it's time, time, time
And it's time, time, time that you love, and it's time, time, time
And it's time, time, time, and it's time, time, time
And it's time, time, time that you love
And it's time,
time,
time.

Schöne traurige Lieder, Vol. 7 - The Smiths

.

.
The Smiths - Back To The Old House
.
I would rather not go back to the old house
I would rather not go back to the old house
there's too many bad memories, too many memories there
When you cycled by, here began all my dreams
the saddest thing I've ever seen
and you never knew how much I really liked you
because I never even told you, oh and I meant to
Are you still there? or have you moved away?
I would love to go back to the old house
but I never will, I never will, I never will...

Schöne traurige Lieder, Vol. 6 - Keane

.

.
Keane - This Is The Last Time
.
This is the last time that I will say these words
I remember the first time, the first of many lies
Sweep it into the corner or hide it under the bed
Say these things they go away but they never do
Something I wasn't sure of but I was in the middle of
Something I forget now but I've seen too little of
The last time, you fall on me, for anything you like
Your one last line, you fall on me, for anything you like
And years make everything alright
You fall on me, for anything you like, and I, no I don't mind
This is the last time that I will show my face
One last tender lie and then I'm out of this place
So tread it into the carpet or hide it under the stairs
You say that some things never die, well I try, and I try
Something I wasn't sure of but I was in the middle of
Something I forget now but I've seen too little of
The last time...

Schöne traurige Lieder, Vol. 5 - Gary Jules

.

.
Gary Jules - Mad World (by Tears For Fears)

All around me are familiar faces, worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races, going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses, no expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow, no tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it's a very, very mad world, mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good, happy birthday, happy birthday
And I feel the way that every child should, sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous, no one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson, look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it's a very, very mad world, mad morld
Enlarging your world... mad world.

Schöne traurige Lieder Vol. 4 - k. d. lang

.

.
k. d. lang - Hallelujah (by Leonard Cohen)

they say there was a secret chord
that david played and it pleased the lord
but you don't really care for music, do you?
it went like this, the fourth, the fifth,
the minor fall, the major lift
the baffled king composes hallelujah

your faith was strong but you needed proof
you saw her bathing on the roof
her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
she tied you to a kitchen chair
she broke your throne, she cut your hair
and from your lips she drew the hallelujah

i have seen this place before
i know these walls, i've walked this floor
i used to live alone before i knew you
i saw your flag on the marble arch,
love is not a victory march
it's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

there was a time you'd let me know
what's real and going on below
but now you never show it to me, do you?
and every time i moved in you,
the holy dark was moving too
and every breath we drew was hallelujah

maybe there's a god above
and all I ever learned from love
was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
it's not a cry you can hear at night
it's not somebody who's seen the light
its a cold and its a broken hallelujah
